 "My work is a
series of experiments with form and space. It is very sculptural and
plays with light and shadow to define spaces within. I am inspired
by ideas of the imagination, geometry and shifting scales.
A
concept I keep revisiting in my work is that appearances are
deceptive. This is where my fascination with camouflage and
illusion stems from. There is often more to things than meets the
eye – and it’s when those things begin to reveal themselves that
they become engaging and draw me in.
I have been fascinated with the natural forms of minerals. The
structures of these minerals are extraordinarily beautiful – they
often grow in very pure geometric forms that look artificial or
manufactured when they are in fact naturally occurring. (i.e.
tetrahedrons, cubes, octahedrons, dodecahedrons and
icosahedrons). Many of them resemble a form of miniature
architecture. I imagine myself being miniature and
experiencing them at a new scale - like tiny buildings or even
fictive cities."
