Katrina Freene: Bangle
Sterling silver, gold plated, cubic zirconia
The Diamond Solitaire Ring is arguably the most iconic piece of jewellery in western culture. The purpose of enlarging symbolic rings to the scale of bangles is to alter the context in how they are viewed. It is a fitting pastiche in a culture obsessed with super-sizing and a comment on women's judgement of personal self worth being defined by the size of the rock on her left hand.
