Emma Jane Donald

"Contemporary jewellery offers a meaningful alternative to mass production—pieces that are enduring, personal, and imbued with a human touch. I strive to create jewellery that resonates with the wearer, evoking a sense of connection and individuality"
Emma Jane Donald is a contemporary jewellery artist known for her intricate, architectural designs and "New Zealand Noir" aesthetic. Inspired by Aotearoa's rugged landscapes, her work features white gold, platinum, blackened silver, and neutral-toned gemstones, often accented with deep green sapphires. Emma's creative process involves experimenting with elemental forms in silver and juxtaposing industrial shapes with fine jewellery techniques. With a background in sculpture, she balances striking visual impact with wearability.
Her work has been featured at NZ Fashion Week, and her Auckland workshop and showroom are located within THE SHELTER. Emma believes contemporary jewellery offers a personal alternative to mass production, creating pieces that resonate with the wearer and become cherished parts of their stories. She honed her craft under William Griffiths in Melbourne and draws inspiration from New Zealand artist Ralph Hotere.
