Tara Lofhelm
I'm intrigued by the archaic practices of ancient civilisations. Created through the eyes of a curious non-believer, my jewellery traverses time and place, drawing on mysticism, tribal scarification, paganistic belief systems and cosmology. Consciously choosing to eschew trends, I envision my works adorning the Divine Deities of today's mad, modern world.
Tara Lofhelm has completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts and an Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology (Jewellery). Working from her Melbourne studio since 2009, Tara explores textural repetition and contrast through primitive processes such as stamping and embellishment. Constantly shifting and evolving, her pieces illustrate the hand of their maker, drawing inspiration from the preceding eons of civilisation. Re-imagining these ancient cultural artefacts, Tara Lofhelm's jewellery aims to preserve a definitive, singular moment in time.
