Krista McRae
I began making jewellery as I became inspired with the idea of wearing art. I believe that jewellery should reflect who you are and be something precious… a treasure that no one else has...to be passed on through generations, thereby invoking sentimentality and emotion. My intention is to create pieces that tell a story of their beholder. For this reason my pieces are unique and personalised, as they seek to tell something of the history of the individual.
Krista completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture), VCA, 1999. She then completed an Advanced Diploma in Jewellery Engineering, 2006. She has since held solo and group exhibitions at e.g.etal, Glitzern, Craft Victoria and BUDA, Melbourne; the Powerhouse Museum and Sturt Gallery, Sydney and The National Gallery, New Zealand. In 2016 Krista presented her solo exhibition 'Soul Mate' at Pieces of Eight Gallery.
